Having attracted record breaking crowds for the past five years, the 2018 Swanpool Arts Festival promises to be even bigger.
You will be excited to learn that there will again be two exhibitions in Swanpool for the 2018 festival. All exhibitions are within walking distance of each other, and will be open daily from 4th to 19th August inclusive, from 10am to 4pm each day.
The previously hosted art exhibition was not available to Swanpool during the normal Cinema winter recess period for 2018. Rather than dismantle the successful major event model that has been developed by the Swanpool community, it has been decided to establish Swanpool’s own ‘Scrap Art’ prize. Whilst this exciting artistic format is very big in Europe and America, it is very much in the formative stages in Australia. The Swanpool prize is believed to be the only exhibition of this type in Victoria for 2018.
The inaugural Swanpool Creative Recycled Art Prize, or SCRAP, was opened for entries in May 2018 and offers professional and amateur artisans alike, the opportunity to participate in a total of $7,000 in prize money. Entries of wearable, functional or artistic, two and three dimensional works, made from recycled, salvaged and repurposed materials are acceptable. Entry form for the SCRAP prize can be downloaded from www.swanpoolanddistrict.com.au Entries close 13th July.
Admission to the 2018 SCRAP exhibition, located at 2386 Midland Highway, is $5 for all adults and $2 for students. The Swanpool and District Memorial Hall has full wheelchair access. The dining room will be open each day for delicious freshly prepared meals using local produce where possible. Meals include morning and afternoon teas for $6 and a lunch choice of either $12 or $17. All meals come with unlimited self-serve tea and coffee. Bookings for the dining room can be made by contacting 0422 370 389 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note that the Swanpool and District Memorial Hall does not have EFTPOS facilities.
To add to the visual experience for the 2018 Swanpool Arts Festival:
Picture This... is the theme for the 2018 Benalla Camera Club exhibition.
The exhibition promises to be yet another extraordinary display of photography from these very talented people. The exhibition will be located in the Swanpool Bowling Club pavilion 2396 Midland Highway. Entry is by gold coin donation. Open every day 10am to 4pm.
If you missed the Swanpool Arts Festival last year, don’t miss it this year.
