13 March 2022 Albert Heaney Reserve 2426 Midland Hwy Swanpool
The Albert Heaney Oval Committee successfully ran the Swanpool Motor Festival for 2021 on March 6th.This year we had 389 vehicles, which included nearly 100 motor bikes, park on the oval, up 200 on our 2020 entry number of 189.Our Committee raised over $6,000 profit, up 100% on 2020, with an additional $4100 gate takings shared between the three local CFA Brigades, (Swanpool, Lima South and Samaria) which was an increase of 110%.Prizes totalling over $3000 were presented to the selected display vehicles.
Despite the restrictions with Covid-19 limiting numbers to 1000, we went ahead with our festival to keep the momentum rolling. And roll it did, with the majority of the entrants and the public promising to return in 2022.
Our Festival in it’s third year is now regarded as one of the biggest in the North-East region with a following that is increasing each year. Our concept of not judging entrants on points or classes makes it a very relaxed day, without any problems. We could not have reached these heights without the continuing support from businesses in Benalla, Swanpool and Mansfield.
This Festival is all about, raising much needed funds for maintaining the Albert Heaney Oval and the facilities as a meeting place for all locals within the Swanpool and districts area.
Feedback has been very positive and with exposure on WIN TV (Shepparton), the Benalla Ensign and Mansfield Courier once again covering our event.
Our Committee is already in the planning stages for next year’s event to be held on Sunday 13 March 2022. Once again, we will have thousands of $$ in prizes to be awarded to display vehicles. We will have food trucks together with a live band and swap meet and market stalls.Entry for display vehicles is $10 which includes a driver and passenger and entry for the public will be $5 per adult with children under 16 years free. The festival will open at 8am and will run to 2pm when prizes for display vehicles will be presented.
